I love The Muny! This past season was my fourth summer there! Check out some pictures and stories from my time!
The first show I did was Wizard of Oz! I had such a great time and made incredible friends. We got to do a lot in the show! It was an ensemble track that had us playing lots of different characters. We were crows, Ozians and even a tornado!
It was during this time as well that I started my daily vlog! The very first episode is the day before we open Wizard of Oz! You can take a look backstage at our tech process!
We also had an amazing director, John Tartaglia. You may know him from his children's show Johnny and the Sprites. On our last day together, our cast decided we should pay tribute to him with a little video:) You should watch it!
The next show I did was The Music Man! I was very excited for this one because it was the first time I would be playing an actual role at The Muny! I played Tommy Djilas, the young ruffian who tries to court the Mayor's daughter. It was a small role but I had so much fun!
There were a lot of great vlogs during this time so you should check them all out! one of my favorites though was on the Fourth of July! We were teching the show that night and all of a sudden we heard something. Now The Muny is a large outdoor theatre so sometimes nature interjects. But this was different. We ran out backstage to get a better look. Just out over a tall treeline and Muny offices we could see fireworks going off in Forest Park! It was incredible! My friend Sean and I needed a closer look, so during intermission we raced out of the theatre and toward Forest Park to get a better view. All while in costume I should add. We got to the front of the theatre and there was a perfect view of an amazing fireworks display! It's hard to describe it any better so you should just watch.
I final show I did in the season was Fiddler on the Roof. Again I was very excited because I got to play another role: Fyedka. I loved working on this show. It is a beautiful story and it was an important time to tell it. What was really great about doing this show was that I had already done it... many years ago at a summer camp... and I played Fyedka! It was cool to think back to a summer theatre camp that I did when I was a little kid and jump forward to the present and see how far I had come. Working on this show was an incredible experience.
During this show I celebrated my 50th daily vlog! It was an amazing milestone. I honestly never thought that I would make it a week. But I kept with it and I'm so glad I did! Now I have this entire summer documented and packaged up day by day in little videos. Whenever I get nostalgic (and I do all the time) I can go back and relive some of those moments. It makes me grateful and miss all my friends just a little less. Alright well now I'm going to finish this post and watch this 50th vlog... you should too!
