Between the Lines is a musical I wrote. Learn what it's about here!
Between the Lines is the story of a young aspiring artist in NYC who is trying to find her way in the world. She tries to stay true and pure to herself but has some trouble navigating the business end. She winds up signing with a company that forces her to paint a certain way. And while it provides her with a patron it does not fulfill her true passion.
At one of the company's art shows, she is given one final chance to sell a painting. When she has no luck with her "new" artwork she resigns herself to a failure. While packing up though she meets a guy. He has just lost everything too. They get to talking and he stumbles upon some of her real art work. She dismisses it, but then the guy offers to buy it in exchange for a date. They come to an agreement both now having a new spark in their life to look forward to.
As things progress between them so does her stake in the art business. She finds out that she has been offered a job in LA as part of a new art program. When she is faced with the choice between her new job and a guy who really believes in her she has trouble deciding which way to go.
The story of this girl is the story that each of us has to face each and every day. We must continually decide in every moment whether we step forward into growth or back into comfort. The show urges people to follow their dreams and live for their passion, because at the end of the day that is the only thing that matters. It's not always clear, but if you dig deep enough you will be able to find your answers between the lines.
